Advanced Math Pathway
- Allows qualifying students to take Math 1 in the 7th grade (while taking seventh grade math) and Math 2 in the 8th grade.
- Criteria: Qualification is determined by a level 5 score on the 6th grade math End of Grade test.
- Implications for CMS Math Classes:
- 7th grade: Two math periods in one school year followed by one EOG and one EOC
- Math 7 Honors and End of Grade test
- Math 1 Honors and End of Course test
- 8th grade: One high school semester math class at GCHS followed by the NCFE
- Math 2 Honors and North Carolina Final Exam
- Result: Student will automatically enroll into Math 3 Honors and Biology Honors as a ninth grader at GCHS
- 7th grade: Two math periods in one school year followed by one EOG and one EOC
ADVANCED SCIENCE PATHWAY
- Allows qualifying students to take an intensive combination of 8th grade science and 9th grade Earth and Environmental Science together as one class in the 8th grade.
- Criteria: Qualification is determined by a combination of data including (but not limited to) placement test score, teacher recommendations, and science NCFE score. Student must be a 7th grader during the qualification process.
- Implications for CMS Science Classes:
- 8th grade: A combination of two science classes in one class period, followed by one EOG and one NCFE
- 8th grade Science and End of Grade test
- 9th grade Earth and Environmental Science and North Carolina Final Exam
- Result: Student will automatically enroll into Biology Honors as a 9th grader at GCHS
- 8th grade: A combination of two science classes in one class period, followed by one EOG and one NCFE
